I’ve got pretty strong hands, and my hands are bruised from trying to turn this thing. But it is working.
Good video and have a good day
Thank you for this. Helped me not mess up my first time restringing
This was so much easier than trying to figure out what they wrote in the manual. Trying to get an early start and almost got discouraged because I needed to re-string . Thank you!😊
🫡🤘
The skeet choke was probably too open for the distance you were shooting. Try modified if you’re letting the birds get that far away.
Thanks for the tip I’ll have to try that
Thanks for the refresher course. This is my second time changing this oil in four years of ownership. Surprisingly my filter covers were never tapped for three bolts and only have two each. As far as the oil, I’m using Schaeffer’s Supreme Synthetic 7000 20W50. I don’t mind spending a few extra dollars for piece of mind.
Mines is not opening I need help
Might need to get something to get a better grip to be able to push the tabs in sometimes they can be hard to press by hand
Thanks, man!
I was hoping I would find this info on UA-cam! My trimmer had been loaded incorrectly and was spewing out the line as soon as I pulled the switch. The inside reel had been turned over so everything was backwards. Once I got that installed correctly your video finished it off and I got the job done. Thanks!
I always seem to have issues with the batteries overheating
I haven’t had any problems untill the hot weather hit and now they overheat pretty easily, I am disappointed in the hot weather performance, I’ll have a video coming soon about it
I wonder you couldn't use an inverter on your tractor or truck battery to power the Ego battery charger while out in the woods. Carry a jumpstart pack in case it takes too much out of the starter battery but I doubt it will.
May be a good thing to try out
Thanks for making this how to video. I am a few months shy of 68 and needed new line for my Atlas. Your lesson was very helpful.
Glad it helped!
Randy from trailer park boys
Thanks for the video. I have a Z421 with 260 hours on it. I was doing a deck scrape out and a blade change yesterday and discovered a bad spindle bearing on my center blade and an ever so slight play on the right blade. I decided to replace the bearings on both. the left was fine. I wonder if there is something about the belt geometry that makes the center bearing fail soonest? The parts guy at Kobota even asked me if the spindle I had brought in was the center one. Mine didn't go so easy. The center one went OK. The right spindle had the blade end bearing seized on the shaft. I was able to use my 20 ton hydraulic press to press it off the shaft. It took a lot of force, and lacking the press, there was no way I would have gotten it off. Other than that, it went smooth. The torques per the manual are... Spindle nuts to deck- 60 foot pounds, blade to spindle- 85 foot pounds, Spindle to shaft pulley nut- 120 foot pounds, that is if you are fussy about factory spec torques. I am sort of. Like he says, don't forget the shaft collar which is the spacer between the bearings. I used some anti seize on the pulley where it slides on the shaft. Tip; if you torque the pulley nut, be sure to tighten the blade on the shaft first or the shaft will spin while setting the torque on the pulley nut. Use a wood block to hold the blade while tightening. This rebuild is the way to go vs replacing the whole spindle assembly as long as the spindle housing is not damaged.
May be something to that center spindle bearings going out first, thanks for the added info torque specs etc
Only problem with this saw I see mostly is the battery heating up to fast. To the point where it stop running and you have to wait before starting up again.
Yup that is seemingly a problem with all battery saws especially in hot weather
Thanks this was what I needed I also questioned about oil then I forgot till I saw your vid Now I’m ready to change mine thanks
Excited to see more of this, try some bigger pieces
I have more videos of it coming some pushing it to its limits
Really wanted to love this trimmer right up until went to replace the string….then saw this video and loved it again
Strong machine, but for 7" material could use a mechanical feeder.
That’s the only thing I would change or would like it to have but for the money I’m well satisfied
This chipper has a tendency to kick back on larger pieces instead of eating them straight up, preventing it from clogging up too easily. Something ur regular chipper does not. One of the things i noticed as to why it seems better for larger pieces.
Yes when the larger 5-7” material goes in it takes bites out of it instead of sucking it all in and possibly stalling the machine.
At 7:45 those 3 little metal push-on nuts over the plastic stubs in the middle of the handle. I nicely worked them off, Then the entire other side was exposed and you can see exactly where the steel nubs on the end of the cables hook into.
What’s the combined weight here? Wondering if a half ton with 10,000lb towing capacity can tow this set up ?
It’s only about 7k the trailer weighs 4K so you can haul up to about 6k with that setup
We used a frontier sickle mower for years and never had an issue. As long as you keep the shoe on clean ground they mow just as good and fast as a disc mower
I loved using this Befco but I had it borrowed from a friend, and when I went to buy my own I could actually get a drum mower for less than a new sickle bar mower, the new drum mower is awesome for out needs and the maintenance is much easier, blade changes etc, but it’s also not quite as versatile
What quick connections does the kit come with at the hose hitch ? Pioneer or flat face?
The connection back where all the other hoses connect at the quick attackes are pioneer fittings, but out at the front of the loader the kit doesn’t come with quick connections, you put on whatever you want
8 years without changing the blades bro!!! I start with mulching blades in the spring and swap to a regular set in the summer.. Homie went 8 years 🤣🤣🤣
Can you put a blade on it like the Stihl or Husqvarna? Before I buy one i want to know because on my farm it would be an absolute requirement...
I don’t think you can put a blade on it
@@WilliamsonRidge thanks for the response! I called harbor freight and they couldn't tell me anything at all which I thought strange? I assumed they thought I would spend the money just to find out, hence UA-cam! I'll take your word over theirs 😜 thanks for taking the time to make the informative video!
@ryanmkeisling9089 no problem, it takes alot to run a blade, I have one for my echo srm 225 and it takes a lot for it to get up to speed and takes time to wind down, even if you could put one on it I would be afraid the extra stress would damage it
Chinese junk, a spare battery for most saws is about as much as a new saw. I’m sure that there are some good cordless saws out there but not a part time saw. But you have to balance the convenience of the cordless with the gas. I guess for smaller jobs it would be ok but for bigger jobs you will need a gas saw especially if you are a long ways back in the woods.
Awesome video, I purchased the 80v Atlas line of tools 3 weeks ago, trimmer, blower, mower, chain saw and pole chain saw, it was time to replace the factory line in trimmer, thanks for the tips and braving the rain. Atlas tools 👍
Thanks for watching
If you think a battery operated chainsaw isn't big enough; you need to watch reisefull's videos on bar swaps. I did; and now I have a 24" EGO/Husqvarna chainsaw, and it is a blast to run!
I disagree with your testing! I don't think you pushed the Dewalt to it's maximum capability.
Thanks for the feedback
The more I watch your videos; the more I look for them. I really enjoy your content.
I disagree with your disclaimer about the chain speed. I think it IS slower than most of the other big saws. The big EGOs and Greenworks fairly scream when running at full speed. BUT! they are also rather easy to stall.
I disagree with that, I have two 20” Ego chainsaws and they are not at all easy to stall, and will cut circles around the DeWalt, I’m going to try to have a comparison soon
I was going by your demonstration. I didn't mean that the Dewalt can cut faster than the EGO. I have no experience using a Dewalt. I based my comment on watching you and listening to the saw; and was very impressed by how much you were able to lean on the Dewalt without having it stall. I don't think I can do that with my CSX5000.
Thank you, a real time saver!
Thank you for posting this 🙏🫡 i went to ford and they sell the whole cable for 200+. I found the part and it works like a dream💯thank you🙏
Thank you!
First time I went to put in new line I discovered my husband had thrown out the manual!!!! 😳 Thank you, thank you! You explained it so well that this 68 year old woman did it all by herself!!
Awesome glad to help!
I do all of my tires on this machine I was having a ton of problems trying to set the beads on the tire before you can air the tire up. I don’t mess around with a ratchet strap or anything else. I use the fire trick and it works painlessly every single time. I set the tire on the ground. Then I spray a little brake parts cleaner in between the tire and rim and over the tire onto the ground as a wick. I light the wick and it causes a little explosion inside the tire and forces both beads into place. I never struggle with this step anymore. Make sure you don’t use a lot of brake parts cleaner, ether, or any flammable spray etc. or this can be extremely dangerous. Less is more.
Great video thanks
Its not a chain saw,its a hedge trimmer
Great info
To sharpen the blade, is the grinder wheel going clock-wise or counter-clock wise?
I can’t remember for sure, I know one way you use it will cause the grinding wheel to spin loose, if it comes loose go the other way
How about figuring out how to install a cut string big boy string head on the Atlas? The Atlas and Kobalt 80V are identical heads/motor assy. Look identical. Life is too short for a chump .080 line.. in a bump and dump pOS head.
Good man
I've done plenty of bucking after dark with Ego's earlier 18" saw - it's been super handy, and didn't feel at all dangerous. I guess it depends on what you're cutting, but big logs on the ground, not branches in the air, seem pretty safe to cut, and the saw puts out plenty of light. I have used it as a portable battery-powered light in a pinch a couple times too. Taking the bar off allows even more light to be cast and it's great when you need to get down into a dark crawlspace and don't have another light handy. I love this feature! Looking forward to putting the new 20" to work! I burned out the motor on my 18" twice (with pretty heavy usage), so I'm hoping this one holds up better. Ego warranty replacement has been great, though. Pro tip - if you have a big job, get an Ego Backpack Link and use 12Ah batteries with that. The tool becomes a lot lighter with the battery weight on your back and lasts longer, although in some situations it's safer not to have the cable to worry about. With this configuration I can saw continually for hours without my arms getting tired/sore. I really love the flexibility of this option and use the Backpack Link with several Ego tools.
2 years later how is it holding up ?
Still doing great no issues at all
@@WilliamsonRidge Thank you for update , seriously considering this mower.
@@Rec483 check this video to it gives a little better idea of capability and what to expect, Kobalt 40V Self Propelled Mower Power Test #302 ua-cam.com/video/IHqrB2hsBSY/v-deo.html
Will you posting the other 50 hour maintenance videos soon?
Yup I am working on them
Awesome 😊
Mines making a buzzing sound any idea ?
Mine makes a buzzing sound when accelerating moderately to heavy throttle sounds like a buzzing in the dash or something, it’s always done it, I didn’t want to try to have dealer fix it because it seems everytime you take the dash apart it could cause rattle issues so I don’t want to take a chance on making it worse or a new rattle
The only adjustment my 590 has needed was, the low needed about 1/4 turn further open. I’m thinking about switching to a 620 but not for any reasons I can justify 😂.
Impressive, very good job...tks👍🇧🇷
Thanks! Great illustration!
